Yonetaro Otani was born in Toyama Prefecture on July 24, 1881.
Aspiring to be an entrepreneur, he came to Tokyo at the age of 31.
Overcoming earlier hardships, he founded the Otani Heavy Industries
CU, and other companies, and established a strong and reputable
pusition in industry. On the occasion of the Tokyo Olympic Games
In 1964, he built the Hotel New Otani at the request of the Japanese
government. The original New Otani has since developed into a chain
of 16 hotels at home and abroad. Mir Otani contributed much to the
ination's tourist business before he passed away on May 19, 1968.
In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Company,
this bronze statue of Mr. Otani, by the late Fumio Asakura,
is dedicated in honor of his achievements,
