Zakimi-jo site
The Zakimi-jo site was constructed by renowned fortifier Gosamaru in the early 15th century. Gosamaru was an aji, or load ruling the Yuntanja (present day Yomitan ) area. He took part in the seizure of Hokuzan castle (Nakijin Village) led by Sho Hashi and played a significant role in forming the first unified Ryukyu nation.
When seen from above, the castle walls are distinctively arced and an arched stone gate serves as a doorway. At the ceiling of this arched stone gate is a keystone not found at other Gusuku.
